Adobong Atay ng Manok (Chicken Liver Adobo)

The following are the health benefits we get from Chicken liver: Helps prevent anemia, Promotes good eyesight, Helps promote fertility and prevents neural tube defects for the developing baby, Promotes healthy tissues, Keeps thyroid healthy, Helps the body fight stress, Keeps immune system healthy, Helps prevent pellagra, Promotes healthy skin, hair and nails and  Helps keep teeth and bones healthy.


In a casserole, heat oil over medium heat and sauté onion until translucent before adding the garlic then stir until golden brown.

Add the gizzards first and stir for a few minutes then add the chicken livers

Put bay leaf, peppercorn, soy sauce and vinegar

Cover the casserole and bring to a boil or until the chicken liver and gizzards are cooked

Do not stir if it hasn’t boiled yet for the reason that if the vinegar is not yet cooked, it becomes sour

Remove from heat and place to a serving dish

Best served while its hot and with white rice and a cold beer


  • ½ kilo of Chicken liver, chopped to serving pcs
  • ½ kilo of Chicken Gizzards
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 pcs of medium onion, sliced
  • 2 pcs of bay leaf
  • 1 tsp of whole peppercorn
  • ½ cup of soy sauce
  • ¼ cup of vinegar
